Successful Defence of Lingnan University in Judicial Review Proceedings 2025

Mr Mike Lui SC, leading Jimmy Ma and Keith Tam of Liberty Chambers (together with Mr Alexander Burg and Mr Paul Chow), successfully defended Lingnan University in the judicial review proceedings in [2025] HKCFI 2563.

The High Court upheld Lingnan University’s interpretation and application of the Election Regulations. Further, as the Court found that the Applicant had deliberately breached the Election Regulations, there was no procedural impropriety on part of Lingnan University. As such, leave to apply for judicial review was dismissed with costs payable to Lingnan University.
